Doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals are respected members of society and have been throughout history.
We know that our health, the health of family, friends, neighbors, and even coworkers does have tremendous impact on the quality of our lives.
We know that medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy in the United States and that long-term healthcare costs are a primary concern for the fiscal stability of local governments from city councils to school boards.
We know we have an expensive healthcare system that doesn’t provide healthcare outcomes at the levels befitting the wealthiest state in the wealthiest nation on the planet.
We know we have for-profit pharmaceutical companies, health insurance corporations, and hospital associations that oppose reducing their profits even if it would mean better care for the people of California.
We know we have a problem in healthcare.
Our campaign for Assembly believes that if we do the math, focus on healthcare outcomes, listen to healthcare professionals, and think creatively — a Single-Payer, Publicly Administered, Universal Healthcare Program in the Medicare for All model is the solution.
We are committed to working with everyone from pragmatic progressives to moral conservatives to realize quality healthcare for all Californians in the next session of the State Assembly.
